About Us

Maternity Piercings has been making pregnancy belly rings for almost 3 years, and our parent company Jewelry Liquidators has been selling jewelry since the summer of 2002.  We originally started selling regular gold and diamond jewelry, mainly through EBay.

One of our daughters got her belly pierced, which led us to add body jewelry to our inventory.  Soon people were asking us to stock other body jewelry items, and we did.  Out of that, we ended up finding a great niche in replacement parts, the balls that people are always losing, and custom size bars for extra small and extra long piercings.  Somewhere during the first quarter of 2003, we had dropped the regular jewelry line altogether, and focused on just body jewelry as a family business.  We stocked as many hard to find items as we could.  When people started asking for flexible belly rings for sports and pregnancy, most of what anyone could find was acrylic, and that is not a good material for inside a piercing.  Bioplast and PTFE became popular for tongue barbells.  The materials were safe for first piercings,  and tongue barbells were longer than the standard 10mm or 11mm for belly rings, so that worked for many pierced pioneers during pregnancy.

In 2004, we decided "Jewelry Liquidators" was fine as a parent company, but didn't really fit what we were really focusing on, so we created Bodyville to emphasize body jewelry.  The sports and pregnancy category was getting more and more popular.  By this time other companies were offering longer lengths of PTFE, and some of them created their own custom ends, so they couldn't be cut to fit.  We really didn't know if there was a need for the longer length, but offering people the choice, and being able to customize their size seemed like common sense.  We had a hard time trying to find the "right" PTFE in bulk.  Believe us, PTFE is NOT all the same.  We were asked to make a few custom pieces with the longer length for a special client, and once we found just the right PTFE recipe, we sold about half to our new customer, and sold the rest on EBay.  They went well.  We made more.  By 2005 we had so much more interest, we added a specialized site just for maternity.  We added more designs, and most were widely accepted.  In 2006 we registered other sites as well.   And we even graduated to MySpace.

In 2007, we returned Bodyville back to EBay sales only, though we still try to maintain the web site.  Our focus is primarily the maternity line now.   We just recently started adding 16 gauge maternity belly rings for those with a need for a thinner bar.  We also acquired a different style of PTFE that is even more flexible, and holds some of the acrylics better.  And just wait til you see what we're coming up with for 2008!

Now if you search the web you will find many other companies selling maternity belly rings, but we believe we still have the best selection, and customer service for our maternity products.  We really value feedback, questions and suggestions, as it helps us create new things, or look at things a different way.

Though we have a lot of fun continuing to provide new styles and colors, the basic styles are still the most popular.  And our customers are wonderful.

Thank you so much for your business!
